What is INSPIRE?

Inspire is more than just an event—it's a celebration of curiosity, creativity, and connection across the Social Science communities at CSUF. Held on May 5, 2025 at the Titan Theatre, this student-led symposium brings together poster presentations, inspiring speakers, an award ceremony, live music, and free food and beverages in one vibrant space.

Whether you're presenting your research, cheering on a classmate, or just curious about the intersection of academic knowledge and real-world impact, Inspire offers something for everyone. Our lineup of speakers includes professionals who have successfully transformed classroom learning into meaningful careers, offering students valuable insights into the paths that lie ahead.

We'll also be recognizing both academic achievement and the unique human qualities that define our field through a mix of scholarly and lighthearted awards. After the final round of applause, stick around for live performances by Insomniac Artist AWP and enjoy delicious free food and drinks as we celebrate the semester together.

Inspire is a moment to reflect, connect, and ignite your next step forward.

Inspirational Speakers

Hear from dynamic professionals who have taken the skills learned in university—research, critical thinking, cultural insight—and transformed them into thriving careers. These talks are designed to bridge the gap between academia and real-world application, offering students firsthand wisdom on how to turn passion into purpose.

Student Research Spotlight

From cultural fieldwork to spatial analysis, our students are tackling big questions with bold ideas. The Student Research Spotlight showcases poster presentations that highlight innovative work across the Social Sciences—giving attendees a chance to engage directly with the next generation of thinkers, explorers, and change-makers.

Awards

Inspire is about more than just academic excellence—it’s about celebrating the full spectrum of what makes our community special. During the awards ceremony, we’ll recognize standout students with honors like “The Margaret Mead “Talks to Everyone” Award,” “The Thick Description Award,” and the “Excellence in Ethnographic Writing Award.” From lighthearted fun to serious scholarly recognition, these awards reflect the heart, humor, and dedication that define our department.

Food

Come hungry! We’re serving up a delicious spread including fresh salads, hearty sandwiches, cookies, and a variety of refreshing beverages—all free for Inspire attendees. Whether you’re fueling up between sessions or just here for the vibes, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Music

Get ready to vibe—Insomniac artist AWP will be serving up a set of delicious beats to close out Inspire in style. Known for lighting up legendary venues like Academy and Exchange LA, AWP brings the energy and atmosphere you’d expect from a night out—right here on campus. Come for the knowledge, stay for the sound.
